1/19/2009

Hola Remuderos

Hope you all had a merry Christmas and happy new year. 2008 was a year filled with change. We saw too many people lose their homes, we witnessed an historic political event and too many pensioners and retirees lost much of there nest egg. Hopefully, we all will be fine in 2009.
With those little nuggets, the time has come to start planning for our annual ride and gathering. I have called our annual Mid Winter here in Wickenburg. As usual John Creighton has secured the recroom at Horspitality RV Park on February 7th, at 10:00 am sharp!
For those of you who don’t know it’s on the south of highway 60, couple miles out of town toward Phoenix. If you’re lost call John @ 928-231-2415.
The following items will be discussed in the Winter Meeting:

1. Opening remarks & acknowledgements- Camp Boss Tadd “Nix” Nixon
2. Camp News and up dates
3. The new “ShwrUp” Trailer

4. Empty Saddles______________________________

5. Financial Report
Cash on hand as of 1/1/09. $2472.62
Budget for 2009.
According to John Creighton we had $2,472.62 in the ‘camp’ account as of January 1, 2009. Any additions or subtractions will be provided by John.
At the meeting we will go over the budget that was prepared by John and fined tuned between him and me. This will be a working budget we will use into the future. The budget is based upon 35 riders, our estimate based upon last year’s ride numbers. Obviously there will be modifications if the numbers grow or diminish in 2009. All categories were based on historic and estimates of 2009 costs.
Please note, we have estimated two (2) bat boys plus John based upon a count of 35 riders. We attempted to trim areas of excess and add where we think necessary. We will be operating the shower trailer this year without the aid of John Burden. So if rider numbers increase, an addition bat boy may need to be added. Of course, this is up for discussion at the meeting.
Camp Dues
Historically we have been charging $80 per rider. This figure will be up for discussion. John suggests we add $5.00 per rider per year for maintenance for up coming rides to ensure we have money to fix or replace items as needed. The maintenance fee/addition will be set aside and placed in the new checking account I set up for the collection of monies donated by Remudaderos. The shower committee is expected to discuss the agreement that was made with Las Damas on use and co-ownership of the trailer. Therefore, John and I suggest a fee increase to $85.00.
Camp Purchases
John tells me that no big items are required at this time. There are some minor repairs & painting needed. Once given the green light John and crew will complete the work. In addition, John suggests a new shade cover. John will supply the anticipated costs of procuring said shade.
In addition a tarp or two is suggested for more shade cover for over the bunks for Tuesday and Wednesday at Coopers. John would like to also try to make the Bar tent into a frame tent and add a shade fly on it for more room.
Committee Reports
1. Pre Ride and Lunch- Lou Disser/ Abe Peters/ John Creighton
2. Remuda Saturday Night Party – Tadd Nixon
At a fall meeting several local committee members met with John and decided to have our party at the ELKS LODGE on Frontier Street in 2009. Based upon the rising cost and smaller anticipated riders, the ELKS seems to be our best choice. The Bar will be opened up at 6PM with diner served at 7PM. We will try to work the rooms better this year so that all riders will get a better view of the auction items for our personal fund raiser. I hope we are able to fuel auction competition this year and push up our income figures in 2009.
The meal will consist of two main course items, your choice, along with a salad, dessert and a dinner beverage as usual. Sorry fellas, but the bar will be served up by the ELKS as is required by AZ Law.
3. Day in Camp-Margarita Party- Tadd Nixon
I will work with this year’s Captain and Lieutenant, to make sure ingredients, lime and salt are in ready supply. Will work with Los Cab camp to make sure the Caballeros make it down to the party before trotting down to the river for the Duck Races.
4. New Trailer Committee – Mike Shanahan/Charlie Hoch

5. General Discussion and Comments from the Floor:
Any new and old business discussed here.
6. Administrative – John Creighton
As usual each rider will receive a reservation form. All riders will be able to select activities, lunch and main course items. It will also give you updates for the ride if there are any.
Men, thank you for you help and assistance. I could not do this without the lot of you. Look forward to seeing you on the February 7th
